Who is Redemption Church?
we are redemption church
We believe God has the power to transform broken communities and disconnected people for His glory, and that is why we planted Redemption Church in one of NYC’s most challenging communities
Historically, Red Hook has had a reputation of high-crime, drugs, poverty, broken families, fatherlessness, racism, neglected living conditions, unjust educational systems, and social/economic divides.
However, it is beginning to show glimpses of hope. We know that our presence in this community over the past three years has helped foster light in a once dark community.
Our Values
-
Discipleship
Our greatest aim is to make Jesus known in our community and throughout our city. We believe this happens best when we authentically do life with unbelievers and believers alike.
This discipleship framework in our context not only produces changed lives, but also provokes missional living, engagement in our cultural context, faithful stewardship and multiplication of discipleship.
-
Family
Our vision is to be in the city’s most broken communities, so we find family to be more than a value, it is a necessity! In most of our urban communities, we see the effects of broken homes and families.
We believe Healthy Biblical Family must be both encouraged as well as modeled as a Gospel Proclamation. God not only saves us into His Kingdom Family as Sons & Daughters, but He also gives us hope of the restoration of our families on this side of heaven.
-
BIBLICAL JUSTICE
Biblical Justice is rooted in the heart of God and revealed throughout scripture. For us, as we do ministry in an urban context, we find many injustices done to those we have been called to reach.
For this reason, we continually seek to meet the needs of our community in a Holistic way. This is primarily modeled out of Luke 10:1-11. We pray for our city, build meaningful relationships with our neighbors, meet real needs, and proclaim the gospel.
-
AUTHENTICITY
We want to live in such a way that we position ourselves to become vulnerable and transparent with those around us. We believe living this type of life allows others to see our flaws and imperfections as well as our ongoing need for the Savior.
Authenticity has become a great apologetic for us in our context. There are many Christians in our community and city, but few are allow themselves to be an authentic expression of the ongoing need for grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love.
4 Practices of partnership
-
prayer
We ask you keep us in your prayers as much as possible. These can be during your services, community groups, bible studies, and personal prayer time. We NEED your prayers!
-
PROVIDE
We ask you to financially provide support in this work. It takes finances to meet many of our communities needs and we can’t do this alone.
-
PARTICIPATE
We ask that you send a Mission Team at least once a year to see how your partnership has been able to impact our community.
-
Promote
Help us spread the word and promote the work. If you know churches, individuals, associations, or conventions that would want to partner with a church like ours, share our story with them.
